Being a BCS student member has benefitted me in numerous ways, from networking to help with planning events and event sponsorship. It has also been good being actively involved in BCS and being involved in changing BCS student chapter policies.
I would say one of the most valuable benefits to me has been the networking and being a part of the communities, and to see how BCS is run and be involved in its running is invaluable.
The more you put in the more you will get out of it (as with anything you do) however, BCS New Beginnings, the BCS volunteering programme, has definitely been one of the highlights of my time at university.

The specialist group meetings are a real chance to network with people who are doing the kind of work I hope to be doing myself, in a couple of years
